Ice Mountain Board - Update April 2009

Hello all;

This year will be the 20th anniversary of Ice Mountain Association. We fix that date by the welded plate on the bridge, which linked Phase One with Phase Two. I believe it is September 1989, I'll have to check the exact date on the plate.

We have gathered up all the broken down and rotten split rail fence at the gate and at the common area for disposal. We were able to salvage some of the rails for possible re-use. These rails are in very marginal condition, some rot and insect damage. A resident has offered $1 each for the rails, there are 60+ of them. If anyone wants to up that bid to $2 per rail, or more, please email me by Monday. All salvaged rails must be paid for and removed at that time.

There is some work on-going on the roads, ditches and culverts, which will continue off and on for a while. Cleaning the ditches of leaves on Phase Two is not being done at present because there is no good place to dump the leaves. We are going to wait for Spring rains to see if nature will take care of some of that for us.

Other projects are planned. We have ordered 800 black locust split rails (actually termed snake rails) from a mill in South Carolina. This firm was chosen because it is on the fence supplier list of the U.S. Park Service for use at National Parks and also because their price, including shipping, was lower than local outlets. This fencing will replace what we have removed at the gate and at the Common Area. There is not yet a date for delivery, however when the rails are actually delivered, we will have a 4 hour window to unload the rails before we incur and additional delivery charge. So, we will be asking for volunteers to help unload. We will try to send out a notice as soon as the supplier notifies us of delivery date.

Some lots have downed trees and debris ranging from minor to disastrous. Now that Spring is here, it is requested that owners consider engaging Wally Hart, or some other workmen, to make the area presentable. At least one lot owner is moving on that now and much debris has been removed already, it looks great.

The Slanesville Volunteer Fire Department has been helping Wally with burning of debris at the Common Area burn site and it is asked that everyone who adds to that burn pile consider making a donation to the fire department for their help. The expense of the elimination of debris at the burn site is a individual responsibility, not the responsibility of the association.

We are expecting a glorious Spring at Ice Mountain and we hope everyone visits often.

Yours,

The Board
